Within the framework of the XVIIIth international scientific-practical conference “Actual problems of business education”, which was held on April 25-26, 2019 at the School of Business of Belarusian State University, Dr. Yury Silkovich, Chair of Digital Systems and Technologies Department and Dr. Pyko, Associate Professor of Innovation Management Department, in the section “Distance education and business education for adults” shared the information with colleagues on the international project “Innovative ICT education for socio-economic development (IESED) supported by the program Erasmus +, telling about its goals, objectives and main achievements.
Dr. Pyko, IESED project manager, noted that the project implementation is in line with the priorities of the “Program of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020”, as well as the “Concept of the formation and development of the business education system in the Republic of Belarus and the plan of measures for its implementation”.
In addition, the speaker reported about positive results of teacher’s internships to the partner Universities in France, Poland and UK, the benefits of co-working with colleagues from European universities, as well as the possibility of creating a media studio at the School of Business of Belarusian State University.
Dr. Silkovich reported that business education is in the process of developing and searching for new approaches to personnel training for the innovation economy, and the problem of training IT specialists for our country is particularly relevant.
That is why there is a need for a qualitative review of the competences of IT specialists in accordance with the requirements of real business, the modernization of curricula, the development and implementation of new courses, as well as the wider use of English in the preparation of IT specialists.
It is planned that, in the future, the «Information Resources Management» program updated in the framework of the project will be launched in English. Dr. Silkovich told about educational disciplines of the specialty “Information Resources Management” which will be updated as part of the project and on the updated IT specialist profile of the project developed in cooperation with EU experts, on the development of educational and methodological complexes on 9 disciplines.
Dr. Pyko noted that the project will improve the quality of higher education in ICT through strengthening transnational cooperation and improving the educational environment for training IT specialists, upgrading the 5 most popular ICT specialties in Belarus, as well as facilitate the integration into the Bologna process and the European area higher education.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, as well as representatives of the business community and colleagues from Belarusian and foreign universities, who also appreciated the usefulness and results of the IESED project.
